Why You Should Meditate?

Why You Should Meditate?

I can speak about why you should Meditate for days.

In the words of Ram Dass, “The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”

First of all, I want to ruin this misunderstood belief about Meditation;

Meditation is not that you could expect you would have a silent mind during it, but a silent mind can be one of the by-products of Meditation after a long term daily Meditation.

Contrary to popular belief, during Meditation, you would experience a rush of thoughts.

In fact, with Meditation, you change your relationship with your mind, let it be, let it flow, let it go, let come, whatever it happens.

But normally, you are reactive to your mind.

Why should meditate: to cut that thinking- feeling- behavior loop

When you decide to sit down for several minutes with any orders, your mind proposes to you.

A thought comes, then a feeling, then that feeling tends to create a behavior, it triggers you to get up and do something or react to it, but you decided to stay in one position.

In this way, you cut down the loop, stop continuing the circuit with sitting down, and not to do based on your known world and don’t behave reactively.

Then, your energy starts to find a new channel to flow, instead of channelizing in your repetitive behaviors, this makes structural changes and creates a new one with new behaviors.

So, you stop behaving reactively for several minutes each day.

Meditation makes the mind’s loop you were trapped weaker and weaker.

On the other hand, you let your mind chattering freely without suppressing it.

When you react to your mind’s orders, it would be more powerful over you.

But with sitting down straight in Meditation and drive your attention to your breath whenever you remembered, you say NO to your mind.

I remember from Eckhart Tolle that each NO that you say to your mind, it would make it weaker.

In the words of Eckhart Tolle, “One conscious breath – in and out – is a meditation.”

Why should meditate: To Let The Blocks Flow

Tony Robbins

Imagine your feelings like independent creatures. Because the Autonomic nervous system creates them, “This system works automatically (autonomously), without a person’s conscious effort.”

That’s why judging your emotions are insane. Because those are not created by your control, they are created based on million years of data on your genes and the data from the past experiences in your life.

But you have the power over the behavior you do by Meditation.

It seems that whatever feelings are inside of us, they are like a river, like a flow of energy.

When you react to them or do something against them because you don’t accept them as they are, it seems that you are putting a barrier on their way.

In this way, they are like water behind the dam and are so energetic and wild.

But when you sit down and don’t do anything and you are open to whatever comes, you let those rivers flow.

They won’t block your body and mind, and they would leave you and create a space for new feelings from unknown, not to make you do repetitive behaviors in a loop or known world

Because you let them go.

That’s why the first weeks or months of Meditation are so hard because you are going to letting Flow so many blocked energies or rivers, like removing a dam from a river.

It takes time to be calm with Meditation, but you should bear it for a while to show you amazing feelings instead of those blocked feelings inside of you.

But if you don’t let Flow blocked rivers, and don’t bear it, you should always make the dams thicker and thicker and try harder, because the water behind the dam would be more powerful and wilder as the time passes by.

Yeah, Meditation can calm your mind if you do it every day after a while, not that it would make your mind silent during the Meditation.

During Meditation, you are going to experience a rush of thoughts and would be calmer after Meditation

Meditation should be a part of your life, like brushing your teeth.

Just do it and sit back to see what new amazing state of mind and brain hormones in such a great harmony would Meditation bring to you.

But if you put dams on your feelings all day by behaving reactively, that would make you an escaper from those wild feelings for all of your life.

“Whatever you resist, persist.”

Why should meditate: It settles down the dust in your mind

It seems during the hustle and bustle of life; your mind would be foggy; you need to keep silent for a while to let the dust settle down with Meditation.

Why should meditate: Meditation defrag the data in your mind

Every day, 60000 thoughts are running through your head. When you meditate, your brain starts to defrag the data in your mind like defragmentation of your hard disk.

There are lots of worthy data in your mind that you don’t access them, lots of great ideas, solutions, and so on. You need to defrag the data to access them whenever you need it, to realize what you want.

Why should meditate: Meditation is plugging out your brain

During daily life, your brain is always plugged in.

Everything needs to rest for a while to perform well.

Your brain needs to be plugged out emotionally, physically, mentally every day to be able to work for you well with Meditation.

Why should meditate: Meditation increases the blood flow in your brain

Studies shows, Meditation increases the blood flow in your brain. It causes your brain to rewire the circuitry.

When the Prefrontal cortex, which is a conscious part of the brain that actives when your brain releases happy chemicals, is extra active, causes the amygdala, which is responsible for fight or flight response and stress, shrink and vice versa.

Meditation shrinks the amygdala, and make the Prefrontal cortex extra active.

Why should meditate: Strengthen the attention muscle

Every time you intentionally drive your attention to your breath or your five senses, you are making your attention muscle stronger, as if you are exercising your attention muscle.:)

Why should meditate: Widens the gap between stimuli and response

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”― Viktor E. Frankl

Meditation WIDENS THE GAP BETWEEN STIMULI AND RESPONSE.

Again, reactively behaving makes them have more power over you.

You should let them live their own life.

Don’t take your feelings as your identity.

Let them be whatever they are.

Don’t forget; negativity exists inside of you to alert you about something that is detected as a threat thing for your survival.

So say hello to negativity in any shape and thank it for its good intention.

Why you should Meditate: Because you cannot Meditate

You should be aware of that; there is something inside of you that doesn’t let you sit and do NOTHING.

There is something wrong with you.

Deep down, you know that you are escaping from something.

Deep down, you know that you are afraid of something inside of you that you think if you give it a moment, it will come up.

And I know that you are in a doubt that what if you let it be, what would happen then?

But you know better than me that if you let this fear control you, you would always be on your fear’s control, and you should always run from it.

You know that running from your fears, cost a fortune, and your whole life would be that cost.

  • What is that thing that doesn’t let you sit down?
  • What is that thing that convinced you that it is stronger than you, and you should always run from it?
  • What is that thing that you believe that if it comes up, you will lose everything, and you believed that and you accept dedicating all your life to run from it, and be afraid of it, do whatever it needs to hide it?

Share your answers HERE. I love to hear from you.

You should always do something to hide it.

But I want to call you beyond that fear, go on the other side of the river of fear.
